Guangdong Peizheng College (former Peizheng Commercial College, hereafter GDPZ) was founded in 1993. In 1996 the college was officially approved by Guangdong People's Government. In March 1998, it was registered with China's Ministry of Education. In March 2005, with the approval of Ministry of Education, the college was upgraded to the status of full-time four-year degree-granting college educating students under the national enrollment plan. GDPZ is a non-for-profit private higher education institution. In 1999 the National Committee for Private Education awarded GDPZ the title of Advanced Private Higher Education Institution. In 2005, Guangdong Education Bureau designated GDPZ as Model Private School of Guangdong Province. Based on its education concept of "people being the first priority" and "student being the center of everything", sticking to the orientation of employment of the students, guided by the principle of meeting the needs of the society, GDPZ has been taking quality education and nurturing students' creativity as its core value. "To establish the college by quality, to manage the college by experts, to prosper the college by scientific research" are the GDPZ routes for excellence. "Teaching according to students" characteristics and respecting individuality are reinforced in GDPZ. Academic credit system is applied; English language teaching and IT application skills are highlighted at GDPZ. The college strengthens collaborative relationships with universities abroad to articulate itself internationally. Behind all these measures is the aim of producing multi-competenced, practical talents with creational spirit and entrepreneurship. GDPZ is located by Lake Jiyi in Chini Town, Huadu District, Guangzhou. The picturesque campus covers an area of 1,700 mu, where green hills and blue waters treat viewer's eyes. GDPZ has accumulated total assets of 830 million RMB yuan over the past 15 years. Construction area reaches 300,000 square meters. The library collection exceeds 1.05 million volumes and 480,000 volumes of e-books. Labs with advanced equipment are a campus feature. GDPZ maintains a stable team of qualified teachers. Professors constitute 30.6% of our 635 full-time faculty. Several famous scholars are conferred as guest professors. Currently, we have 67 full-time foreign teachers, one of the largest such contingent in Guangdong province. There are 12 departments/centers including: Economics, Marketing, Business Management, Accounting, Law, Foreign Languages, Computer Sciences, Art Design, Humanities, English Education, PE, Bilingual Teaching. Majors totaled 61, with 28 for four-year undergraduate program and 33 for three-year program. In the fall of 2008, student numbered more than 12,200.
